Police Modernization

The Samajwadi Party has made some breakthrough additions to improve the law and order of the state. Akhilesh Yadav, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has brought about a revolution by digitalizing multiple government departments and the UP Police has not been left behind. Technology has been employed to ensure better management and curb criminal activities on a large scale.

  • Kanpur, Lucknow, Ghaziabad, and Allahabad have been equipped with modern control rooms handled by the Uttar Pradesh Police.
  • After seeing positive results of Smart City Surveillance in Lucknow, the scheme has been extended to 11 cities of the state.
  • Cities covered under the Smart City Surveillance are Kanpur, Agra, Varanasi, Allahabad, Gautam Budhh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Bareilly,Muradabad, Aligarh and Gorakhpur.
  • The surveillance scheme aims to improve the crime rate in public places and develop a positive attitude in the people.
  • To improve the readiness of the Uttar Pradesh Police, 1411 light weight 4 wheeled vehicles have been introduced along with 416 motor cycles across the state.
  • A Master Co-ordination Centre has been developed in Lucknow on 8 acres of land to monitor Dial-100.
  • Dial-100 was launched to ensure prompt integrated services for public safety in case of an emergency.
  • Under Dial-100, 4800 vehicles are connected to the central control room via GPRS. Any person can call the helpline for immediate response and will get assured help within 10-15 minutes.
  • Once functional, Dial-100 will not just be the country's but the world's largest integrated modernized network.
  • The victim will get immediate help and only once the matter has been resolved, will the process be terminated.
  • 34,716 police officers are being hired to improve the efficiency. These will include 23,200 male officers and 5,800 female officers.
  • 5,716 additional PCS officers are being recruited in the state.
