Agricultural Debt Waiver

Multiple development schemes by the Samajwadi Party Government for farmer welfare have been well appreciated by farmers and consumers alike. Kisaan Bazaars or Farmer’s Markets have definitely been a boon to the farmers of Uttar Pradesh. Now they will not have to travel from one place to another in search of better prices as they will be fixed by the state government. Because of the Samajwadi Party, the farmers will also be able to buy high-quality seeds, pesticides, and fertilizers, at no additional cost.

  • Samajwadi Party Government implemented the Agricultural Debt Waiver Policy in 2012.
  • According to this, all loans up to Rs. 50,000 taken from state banks will be waived off.
  • The agricultural lands which were held as mortgage by the banks have been released, saving land worth Rs. 1788 crore owned by 7,86,000 farmers.
  • To ensure that the agri-produce of the farmers reach consumers directly, big cities now have Kisan Mandis.
  • The Kisan Mandis are spread over 2 to 10 acre of land.
  • So far, 1643 agriculture marketing hubs are being established across the state out of which 874 are functional.
  • Each agriculture marketing hub consists of 10 C type shops, 1 auction area, 2 India Mark-2 hand pumps and more.
  • The Kisan Mandi Commission’s first and foremost responsibility is to establish fully equipped farmer markets.
